Churches’ Response to the Farming Community

As part of the Farming Help response to the problems affecting the farming community as a result of the continuing severe weather, the ARC- Addington Fund will again be administering a hardship fund, with immediate effect.

The ARC-Addington Fund will provide a package of pastoral support and hardship payments to any farmers who have been adversely affected by the recent floods. E.g. Those who have had to bring in stock and are unable to cover feed costs; soft fruit producers who have lost income as all their crop has been destroyed and who are in need of interim support; etc.. Only small hardship payments will be available. Farmers can ring 07002 326 326.

The Fund’s core work is its Strategic Rural Housing Scheme. However, since the Fund’s inception for Foot and Mouth Disease in 2001, it prides itself in being able to respond to changing needs. There are limited funds available with which to commence this initiative; more support is needed to cope with the scale of the problem. Anyone wishing to support this initiative can send payments by cheque or credit card by contacting the ARC-Addington Fund on 024 7669 0587.

In accordance with its principles, the Fund guarantees that no part of any donation will be used for administration.

The ARC-Addington Fund was established by the Arthur Rank Centre, the churches rural resources centre, and remains a major part of the churches response to the issues facing the agricultural community.
