MA/Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Mission and Ministry

'I warmly welcome this course as a means of expanding our vision for rural mission.' Rt Revd James Bell, Bishop of Knaresborough

A new part-time programme leading to a Postgraduate Diploma or MA in Rural Mission and Ministry offered by the York Institute for Community Theology in conjunction with the Arthur Rank Centre.

Whilst ministry in general has common features, rural practitioners know that the environment they work in has its own distinctive feel and needs. This course will offer a unique blend of elements which enables the development of reflective practice, ministry and mission with a deliberate focus on the rural context aimed at lay and ordained people practising in a rural setting.

Modules will include:

  • The rural context in contemporary Britain
  • Developing and evaluating models of rural ministry
  • Rural mission: theology and practice
  • Critical reflective practice in rural contexts
