Arthur Rank Training Case Study

Matthew arrived with Arthur Rank Training from Foster Care and under the Probation Service. He will be under the care of Social Services until he is 21 and has a Social Worker, although he has requested a new one just recently.

Matthew became homeless after staying in temporary foster care for the maximum time allowed and became lost in the system. Probation service and ART managed to eventually track Matthew down and he had been sleeping on friends’ sofas.  We arranged transport for him to return to training and were then able to support him in finding accommodation away from his home area where he encounters a lot of trouble due to his brother’s failings.

ART supported Matthew in meeting up with Social Services and receiving the financial support they can provide, as he is a care leaver. We have financially supported Matthew with set up costs for general living when he was put in to emergency bed and breakfast accommodation just recently.

Matthew has attended interviews at the Foyer and YPDA with support from ART. We are awaiting a place for him at the Foyer and he is on the waiting list.

Work on all levels and contact with all agencies involved with Matthew is ongoing.
