Action for Uplands

The Uplands farming community continues to face extreme hardship because of very low farm incomes and significant barriers to diversification and development . Their plight was looked at by the Uplands Consultation by the Council for Rural Communities but recommendations will not be taken forward because CRC was abolished in the Government spending review. ARC is working with St Georges House, Windsor, to implement key recommendations on training, building enterprise and investment, developing markets and improving broadband which will improve farm business profitability and have a positive effect on the wider rural economy and community.
